Working in a brokerage of over 1,000 Realtors has its advantages. Here is a quick breakdown of 2020 v 2019 Stats comparing April 1st through 20th of each year for Premiere Property Group, LLC transactions.
While overall activity has decreased, as we would all expect, the dramatic reduction in sale fails may indicate that today’s buyer is far more serious and committed to closing than a 2019 buyer. After all, in a typical April market, a buyer may feel confident that something else will come along soon enough. That is not a guarantee today in 2020.
We remain optimistic that when buyers and sellers are comfortable resuming activity while observing the appropriate social distancing measures, the market will continue to hum along. The pandemic has had little effect on price. Sellers understand that low inventory remains in full effect, and buyers have lived with this reality in Portland long enough to accept it as well. On the positive side for buyers, mortgage rates are fantastic, and banks are closing transactions for qualified buyers efficiently. Buyers are finding that their purchasing dollars can get them more house or closer-in neighborhoods because of the great rates.
