“I think I’ll go for a walk outside now,
The summer sun’s callin’ my name,
(I hear ya now),
I just can’t stay inside all day,
I gotta get out, get me some of those rays…”
–The Brady Bunch
Just east of NE 122nd and north of Highway 84 sits a pocket of real estate bliss, the bucolic Argay neighborhood of Northeast Portland. Prepare to be wowed. As soon as you enter this neighborhood, you may just sneak a peek at the date on your cell phone to make sure you haven’t unknowingly been transported back to the 1960’s.
This is a neighborhood of beautifully manicured lawns, contemporary homes with large yards and large windows, and if you’re lucky, views of the Columbia River and the hills of Southwest Washington. I have visited a number of Argay homes with clients, and the terms “Brady Bunch” are mentioned (unprompted) each time with both nostalgia and awe. The neighborhood itself is set within a gentle slope that runs down to the Columbia River with Fremont Street and Rose Parkway at high ground offering stunning views. The neighborhood offers an easy commute to downtown Portland or Gresham, and very easy access to PDX airport.
I love showing these homes! If you’re ready to search for your new home before something suddenly comes up (I’m looking at you, interest rates), let’s check out this thoroughly neat-o neighborhood.

Argay Parks
- Argay Park (NE 141st Avenue/Failing Street) includes an off-leash dog area (note: not fenced, no separation of dogs by sizes, close to busy NE 141st Street), paved and unpaved paths, picnic tables, a playground, and sports areas (soccer, softball, and basketball).
- Beech Park (NE 126th Avenue/Beech Street). As of this writing, Beech park is very much a park in the planning process. The city of Portland is working with the Argay neighborhood to determine the best layout for the park. This park will be 16 acres of space for the community to enjoy. It is located next to the Shaver elementary school.
