- they can also take injured wildlife after hours (the animal will be transferred to the Audubon Wildlife Care Center in the morning);
- they also take in injured stray animals (the animal will be stabilized and then transferred to Multnomah County Animal Services, the county’s shelter where strays can be reunited with their owners, or adopted out to the public if not claimed).
- Audubon Wildlife Care Center – phones are staffed 9-5 seven days a week by volunteers; this is where you can bring in injured or sick wildlife. I volunteered in the hospital here for 8 years and can attest that they do great work.
- Animal Rescue and Shelter Resources
- Multnomah County Animal Services – This is the county’s shelter for lost, stray, injured, and homeless pets. It is the county’s only “open” shelter, which means they are required by law to take everything that walks in the front door. They do an amazing job, and we have adopted two fabulous dogs from them.
- Family Dogs New Life – a private shelter located in Milwaukie, Oregon, they take in many dogs from Multnomah County Animal Services, so they have a special place in my heart. They do things a little differently here, so definitely check out their website!
