Ever fall in love so hard and so fast you lose track of time and cannot think about anything else? It’s distracting. It’s all-consuming. It’s electrifying. Imagine reliving those feelings of elation every time you walk into this neighborhood hot spot, and you will begin to understand why I keep coming back to La Moule, SE Clinton Street’s mussel bar from renowned chef Aaron Barnett.
La Moule offers several different preparations of mussels, each more perfect than the last, though I am falling into a hypnotic rhythm with the Thai version. It is a place where you can go full meal, or you can snack and nibble and imbibe bourbon cocktails until midnight like a civilized and proud Portlander. It’s a terrific date spot, but also a great place to catch up with a handful of friends.
SE Portland has so desperately needed a place to dine where the sidewalk does not roll up at 9:00 p.m. With the addition of La Moule, we just got that much luckier, that much hipper, that much more chic.
