Fall is in full swing here in Oregon. I know this because my lawn is green once again, and I am bombarded in the grocery store and in coffee shops by the options of pumpkin-spiced, well, everything.
Some classic Portland autumn activities we can all enjoy:
- Apple picking and the corn maize at Sauvie Island.
- Spending time at the coast with far fewer crowds.
- Colorful hiking throughout the Gorge, the coast, and Mt. Hood. I plan to check out Trillium Lake for the first time this fall. I am hoping for some great birding.
- Wine tasting in the Valley, again, with fewer crowds.
- Afternoon tea, a fall shopping tradition. Check out the tea service offered by the Heathman Hotel or the Hotel de Luxe. Take a break from the hustle and bustle.
- The days may be getting shorter, but Portland is never short on fun.
In addition to local adventures, there are also those home maintenance tasks that we focus on each fall. To help you tackle the common to-dos, click here for my Autumn Home Maintenance Checklist. For those afraid of heights, I’m sorry to say that autumn is definitely “roof season.”
I would love to hear about your home projects. Some of my friends and clients are painting and swapping out fixtures. Some are gutting kitchens. Some are building homes from scratch. Exciting projects one and all. Be productive. Be safe. And be creative with your living space!
Have a terrific fall, everyone.
